I mean I understand the reasoning of not giving the Grammy to her for this song. She was 14 when she recorded the song, a little inappropriate subject matter for a little girl to sing despite her undeniably mature voice and overwhelming technical ability. If they’d given her the Grammy I’m sure they would have been met with backlash because they are essentially condoning the treatment of little girls as women. When I first listened to the song, I thought a woman in her mid 30s sang the song. I was kind of disturbed they allowed a little girl to sing the song even though she did absolutely kill the song. And if I can be totally honest, at the time Trisha’s version and vocal style would be more popular and fitting and her vocal abilities were slightly better than Leann’s at that time. But if we compare their primes as grown women, Leann is undeniably a better vocalist. She is so damn underrated.

I needed to hear this song, my mom died last month & I miss her so much, I look forward to seeing my mom in heaven. My dad is in hospice and dying too. I’ve had my parents almost 69 years, so obviously I knew they would die, but I had no idea how much it would hurt. I thought it would feel similar to losing my beloved mother in law, but it’s not, losing my mom is the most painful thing I have ever experienced, and I know losing my dad is going to amplify that pain, because I am a daddy’s girl. My mom said in November, that because I am her eldest daughter & I was their honeymoon baby, that we were almost more like best friends, because we grew up together, which is true, but she was my mom first and foremost, we talked about everything and I keep wanting to talk to her. I hope Eric does see Conor in heaven, I know I will see my mom there, someday.❤❤❤
